Another TeamDamage event was held last Sunday and once again a satisfying LAN experience was enjoyed by many.

Even though Uni exams are just around the corner, we still had a very respectable turnout of 68 LANners, which was much higher than I personally expected. Once again, lots of new faces which goes to show that LAN fever is spreading and that there is better days to come for our event.

After a few early delays, the organised games got underway. 5 teams signed up for the Quake3 Team Deathmatch competition and Soul Doctors once again proved to be too strong for the Bomb Squad, overwhelming them convincingly in the final.

The Warcraft 3 experiment was an interesting affair. Troubled by some unexpected drop-outs in the qualifying round, that turned out to be insignificant with a fiercely contested 3 vs 3 final between Venom/Satan/Dr Evil and Crusader/Gretchen/r0wlzi. It was an aggressive opening with Crusader and Gretchen opening up an early onslaught onto Satans base which looked like it might be the end of him, but Venom and Dr Evil rallied well to bail out their team-mate and after many skirmishes they eventually pushed them back and won with a decisive counter-attack. Venom, with the highest score was crowned the King of War 3....for now atleast.

In the CounterStrike marathon, it was Venom once again who was at the top of the table. Edging out a determined Xylem_7 for the most frags and winning the $50 voucher at Revolution CD. Shrapnel also won a prize for the longest killing streak. Well done Shraps.
The Wolf:ET comp was abandoned due to lack of interest. With only the die hard Bomb Squad signing up (and winning by default :p). The UT2K4 social match which was postponed from early in the day was run in its place and attracted a decent number of players.
There was also some good interest in Americas Army, Far Cry and Battlefield Vietnam through the day. Hopefully with a bit of a push these games may pick up a greater following over the next LAN or two....

So overall, a pretty good day. No real problems and we also managed to purchase a new 8-port GB switch with the proceeds, so our network continues to improve.
A big thanks to all the people who helped make the event possible, but a special mention must go to Scorpion, Mod Man, T2000 and Nutmeg for staying back to pack up. You guys rock !

Hope to see you all next time !
