12 max rounds, 3 minute round time, 35 second bomb timer, blah...

Just a quick one before work.
More details later.

CS will be pretty much standard except only 9 rounds max.
With regos and interest as they are I anticipate greater than 8 teams in the comp, meaning the comp will be 4 rounds and we have time constraints. I am already looking at reworking the schedule for this comp since CS always goes overtime.

Wolf will be 20 minutes per match at this stage.

Q3RA will depend on some experimentation that I havent done yet. Possibly best of 3 x 9 round matches - pending.

HLDM will be one map of 30 minutes.

V8 will most likely be 3 shortish races, but that will be run by someone else that has a lot more experience than me in V8 and I trust thier excellent judgement.

plz explain why 9 and not 12 ....
if u are worried bout time do CO rules.
there is a reason major comps slightly going towards MR15

CS is 4 v 4 (read schedule)

Send me a link to CO rules & MR15 and I will consider.
The diff between 9 and 12 is minimal in terms of gameplay but could be 5-10 minutes in match time and we only go as fast as our slowest match.

TeamDamage is not trying to be a major comp.

CO rules is just time limit on each side
CO10 minutes only Terrorist rounds count eg rushes only basically.
20minute games then.

MR15 is just to get a better idea of who is better not done by who wins lucky gun rounds etc..

mr9 is too quick to be able to get any idea.
i never said u were trying to be a major comp, but a comp is a comp none the less.

MR 9 would be sorta crap seeing as if u lose the first round the losing team (unless they make some good comeback) is screwed for 2 rounds after.

So thats 1/3 of the game thats wasted just on would could be a luck of the draw sort of win like venom said.

The arguments always there that good enough strategy will rule over pure skill...

However, I think your better off going charges especially if you've got time contraints (which you do).

just make it max 12 rounds it stops complications and everyone knows those rules. Also amke it 5v5 4v4 is crap and on most cs maps they are made for 5v5 situations. it's up to u though.

and what the other guys saying si right..the best approach would be going rush comp T rounds only count
keeps things speedy but still has goood playability

speed comps suck. 5v5, best out of 12 each side, might take a bit longer still beats anything else.

gonzo.. just stop. we said why the maxrounds 12 thing prolly wasn't going to work, and greg explained why 4v4 is prolly going to be used... just accept it ^^

The fact that the CS comp is 4 vs 4 is locked in. The poll was about a 4 vs 4 comp and it won over the others by a fair margin.

I was a little concerned that going only T rounds would result in more deathmatch-like play as T's have more incentive to kill the CTs rather than wait the 30 seconds for the bomb to detonate.....
But there seems to be a far momentum of players calling for the T rounds, plus it helps me solve the time constraint issue, plus it is something different that I dont think has been done at TD / WLF before.......so T rounds it is. Probably 12 minutes each way.

Does anyone want to do me a favour and email me a 'standard' comp config file for CS servers so that I can edit it if neccessary and publish it well in advance.

P.S. - Due to the likely size of the comp and the lack of servers, most games will probably need to be run by one of the clans in each match (listen servers)
