Graphics in forum posts

Is it just me, or is loading up the same massive graphics in peoples signatures becoming annoying to you too ?

The pics in the posts are fine, even if they're random. An interesting diversion, and Yoda and glenn usually come up with the goods.

Sig images on the other hand... Tend to be huge and we have to see them every post they make. Limit the sig-pic's size. :P

hmm i dont care about sigs aye, as long as you keep em small?

i purposely made mine smaller cause i figured people may get annoyed.

and i believe the size of it now is decent enough. i could make it a lil more smaller. but meh.

you could always be sneak and jsut limit the sig size sothat all you could really fit weas a small gif or somethign relative to an avatar in there...but yeah. sigs and pictures stop forums from becoming bland...and i can generally recognise posts by peoples sigs

i don't look at the person's name, just the avatar usually and i know who the post is by.

i gotta say that the pics i post aren't huge, and i only post them for a bit of fun. can't be serious all the time :D

I agree glenn, we're all here to have fun in the end.

The problem only comes about when one persons fun becomes another persons annoyance.

By the look of the poll, there is atleast half of the respondants who feel that the sigs are a little overdone.
I like the idea of limiting sig image size.
Kudos to those users who have already taken the initiative and trimmed down their sigs.
I will give the issue some thought and see how the poll develops.

i used to have dialup and ppl had sigz on forums it didnt bother me, if u can have sigs then its all good as long as it isnt a 2 meg file or something stupid like that, it doesnt bother me.

Mr_A, a sig around the size of yours is fine, both in filesize and eye-factor. I think that's what makes it a detractant more than filesize: the actual amount of screen space people's sigs can be. It gets amusing sometimes to see people that have replied with "lol" and then have a short novel as their sig in other forums. I just hope that noone here would consider doing anything like that. *shudder*

Actually, I think Mr_As signature image is ideal size. Its not so much the width thats annoying, but the height of the graphic. Just personal preference I 'spose.

I just find it sucks when I'm at uni checking the forum and I know my download quota is being eaten up by crap.

P.S. - The poll is all about free choice. If you like the images in sigs and posts as they are, then vote for the first option - simple 8)

BZZT, wrong. The poll says more people prefer things the way they are more than anything else. Give the public what they want. the facts can be twisted any way a person likes, but the fact that more people have voted for that option cant be ignored.

PS i do the polite thing and only ever post my sig on the first post to a thread, and sometimes if im feeling nefarious, on the first post to a new page of a thread.
