Greetings TDers

The next TD LAN is now only 2 weeks away. After much deliberation we have decided to have the 2 following games as our team player games.

Quake 3 CTF – this is always popular easy to set up and simple to play
Counter Strike – an old favourite that is again easy to set up and play.

The games will be available on our server through the day. During the random play time we have seen interest in the following games.

Team Fortress 2 – always a great all in game
Starcraft – no doubt popular due to the starcraft 2 release not to far away
Quake – the original
Supreme Commander.
Crysis – has some interesting multiplayer modes
Ghost Recon – This is a great co-op game get a squad together and take out then terrorists.
UT 2004
COD4 Modern warfare
Mondern Warfare 2
Aliens V Predators with poor human in the middle
DoTA
Plus insert your game here.

While we will be organising the Q3 CTF and CS games we will be going around to help people get their own games up and running. If you have a desire to play a game get up and ask people you never know who might have and be interested in the same game as you. TD was founded on the idea of meeting people who might be interested in playing the same games as you.

How about CS Beta 6.6

It was the best version.

just need half life (non-legit cd key is ok) then install the free CS beta 6.6 mod ontop.

free and easy all the way! 6.0 is good too.

Also, what about GTA2? Its a crazy fun game on LAN. Roadstar released it as a free download too, so its legit! Runs on Lan easy too. 250mb download too which i can bring as a file to share.

im's with the cs we will stick with waht we have got also we have the server with all the configs etc ready to go. but we can look at it as an option for furture LANs

with GTA yeah go for it as we said in the email its about getting around on the day and getting people involved in the game you want to play. the free play time is a great time to make these things happen.

Non-steam...? How would that work for those of us who have used steam for so long that they forget early non-steam days?

ahh steam........ :-)

the non steam version is easy to get game play up and running. no need for endless updates or other hassles that go along with steam. while steam is common not everyone has steam and even if they have steam they might not have CS :-)

the non steam CS is easy and enables everyone to get involved.

We actually had a test run when setting up the server last weekend and it brought back some great memories.

The weekend of the 18th I will be down in the Wollongong area but have an old friend in town so wont be able to attend (Everyone remember Wags?!). If there is any gear (including people) in Syd that need transport give me a yell. Departing Sydney Friday evening returning Sunday night.

Are you guys now talking about non-steam cs?

I have cs1.6 on steam, though... its a terrible game (sorry to those who like this non-updating version, why else would it still be 1.6??).

we have not had trouble with CS in the past. Why the sudden push to move away from steam?

Trojan

see the reasons above about why non steam -- to many updates for those on the day that might want to play

yea i had an old version of non steam cs1.6 and its just copy and paste and play which saves hassles if there is an update the night before ect that some people don't get
