so many battles over so little time it was alllll goooooooood
where do i start ?????? sat night @ slumberlan.......some CS battles some Q3 battles, by the time I got ut2k3 installed everyone had left the server and there was only Yoda & I having a duel thanx yodes I really appreciated that battle !
Tron 2 on saturday night what a laugh ! Reaper and I teamed up to take on Lord Shaper & The Camper it took me a few rounds b4 I got the hang of it then Reaper & I cut loose.....so much so that shaper changed the server from the disc maps to the bikes.....

Sunday... needed a clan for the wars so we formed [KARMA] ...GRAY FOX , BLOOD MAGE , GRIN REAPER, LORD SHAPER & myself... 1st up was Q3RA and we did pretty good considering.... 1st match against RogueAgents clan was a mess , players dropping of the server etc (we should have restarted after all that greg!) then we won 2 games and lost to Vulcans /Terminators clan by 2 rounds....well done guys ! To hold that crew to that score was amazing. Term u still are almost impossible 2 kill mate
Special thanx to GF &LS & BM for going so well in these matches....especially seeing as we all hadnt played q3 for such a long time in comps or anywhere else for that matter(not that I think any of us are quake players either) !
Next up CS Shaper dropped out so Reaper came in when we had our little "strat" discussion over a smoke , Reaper told us a funny story and thats where the "MOOOOOOOOOOORE MONEEEEEEY" call came from ! (Shaper hates CS anyway ) some minor timing issues with our first war but it was all good ...Reaper U own that bridge man ! next map was good I remember getting 2 knife kills in the 1st round on Dust2 lol awwwwwwwwwww yeah soz guys couldnt help it hehehehe  twas a good war but we lost narrowly , next up was train? Rogues team.....they got T';s 1st round and I knew this was gunna hurt...train is so big with so many ways in to defend...anyway after 12 mins Rogues team had 3 as a score. I thought we could win this ....... but they fought hard and with 2 mins to go we had only 1 score ....... I said we caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan dooooooooooo it and what do you know we ended up tying that match ! Unbelievable. thanx to a great match Rogue,Scorp ,Gretchen & Alpha ! reminded me og the old wars we have had ! Next match we got our backsides handed to us on a plarte but we expected this.. GF and I dont play much CS so it was the experience of GR & BM that guided us through... THANX all memebers of [KARMA] it was good and it was fun and we will DEFINATELY BE BACK 4 THE NEXT WAR !!

Highlights of the weekend in no particular order, dueling with yoda on UT2K3 thanx again! Tron 2 with Shaper and Co(good 2 see him back down here next time old UT duel shaper..... the 2 knife kills in the CS round awwwww yeah so sweet !~ the grenade I threw @ scorp as he charged our rush in the last ditch attempt to get the win in CS ...bounced of the box behind him , reaper killed him, & as scorp was fallin, grenade ricocheted of his body into my face BOOM ...dead by my own grenade  The reflex shot when I TK'd yoda on sat night in CS...well he did shoot at me 1st ! The Pub CS battles !
The wrap up 3wave CTF game , tho lower in numbers than previous , when we got in the swing of things it was just as INTENSE !
The list goes on with good war memories.
Thanx to all that went to Slumberlan & TD for making it a good weekend.
Thanx to clan [KARMA]... u guys made it so much fun yet competeive at the same time !

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE MONEEEEEEEEEEY !

thank god,
ive been waiting for a topic like this to arise so that in one long post i can express and/or say everything i enjoyed and loved on the day, the start...arriving from my friends to notice he snapped his sound-sensitive cathodes, that delayed us for half-hour from actually leaving the house, well, i must say, greg, u ran TD like an eithiopian after a macca's voucher...scorpion for being the "technics guy", thanx, when our table was cut off, he went out of his way to help, that was awfully nice....now, i am going to take this time to express my feelings upon the comp(s)...when i arrived i noticed 'dolfingirl' setting up next to me, and she asked if i was entering the V8 comp, when i realised only 5 people were entering, i thought, it coulfn't be 'that' hard...so i registered for it.....you know the feeling, twas my 3rd LAN, my second comp, felling good...motivated...then "Bang the greeb light pops up, dolfingirl and hellmun straight off, launched like a rocket....no chance i thought to myself....well, at least i finished ONE race.... ;)
Then the CS comp...we entered as "TeamFusion - " and our first match as against BS, Bombsquad, as T, we obtained 2 wins, and realising only T wins count, we sh*t ourselves, and pretty much were expecting a loss...and then...BS went T...i got an awp with FenR|R (which i must say played absoltely remarkably well on the day) were picking them like a 4 year old and his nose (apology for the lame simile, but ya get the jist...i hope  ) and well, we won, after receiving lots of 'soft' punches from alpha_7 and Gretchen i was a good sport and shook hands...when we played ref....JEEBUS, i cant even describe what they did to us...mG.| put up a good fight, they won, BUt there was a bit of contrversy in that i'm not going into....but they did win fair and square...i cannot remember the rest, those milkshakes made me woozy...and, i owuld just like to say, i ate the 'free' fruit, but. LOL not many did :P

the sea was angry that day my friend...

Waves crashed against the hull of the HMS Teamdamage. Inside the crew had buttoned down the hatches and were ready to persue their favourite past times until the storm died down.

I was sitting on the HUB DeCk, where i had been most of the day, swapping stories about the banana farms of far away tropical islands with the ship's cabin boy, J, when a furious war broke out.

"YARRRRR, HOW DARE YE CALL ME A SCURVY HOMO!!!"

The pirates were always fighting. Accusations of homosexuality and challenges to swordfights. Most of the time it was best to turn away and "not see a thing", but unfortunantly this pirate owed me a dollar.

"Settle down you two!" i warned "and grant me a slot to hold my sword!"

The two pirates stood down, breathing curses under their breathe.

There would be no swordfights today.

I can't believe how insane that just was, Hef. I'd like to congratulate you on writing, in all honesty, the best thing I've ever read.

Yes, I have to agree Hef. That was pure gold.
A rare nugget ;)

I'll be doing a full review of the TD LAN pretty soon. Just have to get some uni assignment out of the way first.

Just a quick response to Cannon though. It would have been nice to restart that game, but there were a number of reasons for not doing so.

First is that standard comp procedure is that teams are responsible for the reliability of their players. There have been instances in the past where one team has been winning and then the losing team suddenly 'drops' a player from the server and then demands the match restarted. The match must go on !

Second is that we were running short on time, already about an hour and half behind schedule and I didnt want to delay the finishing of the match and push back the start of the CS comp any longer.

Third is that I felt our team lost Alpha_7 first, and for the longest duration, thus we were probably more disadvantaged by the drop outs than you guys were (Alpha was on fire too !)

In the end it was a judgement call and I stand by it. It was unfortunate and wouldnt have happenned in different circumstances. I am very keen for Bomb Squad and KarMA to have some rematch wars if your guys are keen.

Definately Keen Greg ! I think [KarMA] are definately up for it :D
I know I was disapointed personally that we didnt have a proper match  I was looking forward to playing the Quake3 team that you had assembled in its entirity !
I mean You ,Scorp,Gretchen & Alpha_7 are a great team and even more so in Quake3....
I know I am looking forward to a rematch !!!!!!!!!
Hurry up next TD is all I can say ! There be wars & plundering to be had !

I have to admit it's been a while since I've been able to go to TD let alone ANY lan for ages so I jumped at the chance of being able to come down again...

I turned up around 6ish on the saturday night, ready for slubmberlan. After going off for dinner with the wife and sister I came back all fired up (or maybe that was the mexican we had for dinner) for some gaming...

Managed to be able to swap seats with The Camper so I could have my old seat back (and it felt like I hadn't been away from TD for so long!)

We fired up some Q3 DM and then some Tron 2.0 that Cannon has so nicely put across which was great... hard figuring out the stratigies for tho since you can either shoot the person with thier disc, bounce their own back at them OR shoot the floor out from under them so we had to try and find the happy medium between them all, tho I wasn't in practice enough to be able to get it right...

This went on until around 2-3am when we all (except reaper) desided to crash for the night...

and then it was time dor TD...

All of us work to the sound of Greg saying good moring and it echoing around the hall...

We started off with seeing who was turning up... the usually game of Q3 to get your brain working (and 2 cups of coffee as well) and then wait for the breckfast to be cooked... (I knew I wouldn't be let down with the bacon and egg muffins) And away we went...

some time that morning KARMA was developed and we started to get ready for some Q3RA3 and took it too the line with all we faced... (tho were just beaten each time) but it brought back all of the old skills that we used to have...

While waiting for other games to come up I degressed and actually went into CS for a while tho no one knew it was me (I hope)... a name like "C@mping B@st@rd" helps hehehe

For the rest of the day I just spent catching up with those I hadn't seen for ages... Playing HL, Q3, Tron 2.0 and UT2003 and as my day wrapped up (the missus wanting to get home at a reasonable time) we had to leave at 5pm due to it taking us 2.5 hrs to get back up the the central coast...

Next time I'm able to come (once I have a new job that I don't have to work weekends) I'll try and organise that I can stay later and finish off all that I have started...

Thanks go to the crew who put it all on for us...

And it was great seeing everyone again since it had been so long!!!

First up, a big congrats to RougeAgent for a good day. The basic gist i got from the SCL guys was a thumbs up. Although none of us are really comp ppl, it was good to just play a bunch of games and most of the time we did, a bunch of other guys would join in - so that was cool. Saturday nights CS was good, After owning GrimReaper in Tundra (i think it was) he then turned around and handed our arses back on a plate in Torn - so we'll call that one even :D . Then following a good helping of leeching - it was time for some shut eye.
Saturday morning was a little (read; incredibly) painful to get up! I think most of us enjoyed the few quick rounds on Q3 and UT2K3. Then it was time to give the SCL DesertCombat server a run, so after 50 re-patches to BF1942, it was time to play. A few other guys caught on to this and joined in. It was only 4 on 4 (i think) but a good game never the less).
Following this was a continuation of the Leech-fest and a few rounds of Raven SHeild (Why doesn't anyone else play this?? It rocks!)
As most ppl know im in the process od re-organising SCL, so i was able to come away with some good ideas and some lessons learned. Some Do's and some Do-nots. A case of working out what will work at SCL and what wont.
Anyway
 Later

At least it doesn't have a mod that is the size of a normal game *cough*DC*cough*

I believe the latest full patch for DC is 550mb or so (the installer, who knows how big it extracts to). I've got plenty of games way better, and offering more than just one mode of play, that are well under that size.

That's right, who really plays CTF in BF? Noone? I thought so. It's just not fast enough.

18th September 2003, 02:10 PM
so, im sure cpd, youd know, size doesnt matter :P
